Did you know you can actually plant a greeting card and grow flowers from it? That’s right — your next heartfelt note could double as a wildflower garden, thanks to the clever, eco-conscious creations from Round Robin Press. These beautiful cards aren’t just for show; they’re embedded with real wildflower seeds that can bloom once planted in soil.
Created by artist Shannon Lowry, the cards are printed on recycled paper and feature calming, nature-inspired illustrations — primarily of birds. For Lowry, birds symbolize peace, joy, and the quiet strength of nature.
“I use birds as my primary representative because, for me, they conjure up a sense of peace and joy,” Lowry explains on her website. “My hope is to create art that is easy on the eye and good to the heart, art that creates space and instills a sense of calm in a world of chaos.”
Each card is a tiny piece of art and a quiet act of rebellion against waste. Instead of tossing your card into a drawer or recycling bin, you simply plant it in a pot or your garden, water it, and watch it grow. It’s a beautiful way to send someone a message and an experience — one that keeps giving long after the card has been read.
At just $20 for a set of four, you’re not just buying stationery — you’re potentially giving away four gardens. These cards make perfect gifts for birthdays, thank-you notes, weddings, or just to brighten someone’s day in an eco-friendly way.
You can find them on Etsy through Round Robin Press. In a world of throwaway culture, why not choose something that blooms?

That’s so cool, especially for brown-thumbs like me who couldn’t grow a garden if my life depended on it. LOL
I know. I think it would be really nice to plant a card in memory of someone or something and later watch the flowers grow.
They ought to come in patterns, like a cross, or a dove or something. You could put them at gravesites. Or, if you wanted to spice up your flowerbed at home, plant the letters of your last name (in the back yard, of course…this could inch pretty high on the cheese-meter if you get carried away). From a more practical standpoint, imagine big sheets of this stuff, like carpet, with grass seeds. You could green up a whole yard. 🙂
Those are really good ideas. I’m tempted to buy some of these cards to give as little “happy” gifts to people.
