OK. I’m about to share a hard-hitting column about crackers.
I’m pretty particular about my crackers. For years, my go-to choice has been Club. I’ve never been much of a Ritz cracker fan, until I discovered Ritz Toasted Chips. And I’m sharing this information so you can enjoy them too.
They have the crunch of a chip, but are lighter than traditional potato chips, making them a satisfying snack when you’re craving something salty. They also seem to be a better nutritional choice than many regular potato chips.
Because Ritz Toasted Chips are oven-baked instead of fried, they contain about 4.5 grams of fat and 130 calories per serving. That’s roughly 40 to 50 percent less fat than many leading fried potato chips, which typically contain around 10 grams of fat per serving.
The line comes in several flavors, including Original, Roasted Garlic, Ranch, Cheddar, Veggie, and Sour Cream & Onion. My favorite is Sour Cream & Onion. It has just the right balance of tangy seasoning without being overwhelming.
I also gave the Cheddar variety a try, but it didn’t quite deliver the bold, cheesy flavor I was expecting. It wasn’t bad — it just didn’t stand out enough for me to buy it again.
The one downside is the price. A bag typically costs around $5, which feels a bit steep for a snack. While I’ll probably always reach for Club crackers with soup, Ritz Toasted Chips are a new find. Check them out if you’re hungry!
