For me, Halloween begins Sept. 1 and ends Oct. 31. That gives me two full months to enjoy the season and, usually, plenty of time to find a new animatronic creature to bring home.
This year, though, none of the Halloween animatronic offerings have caught my eye. If a creature is going to earn a permanent place in my shed, which is filled mostly with Halloween decorations and creatures, I need to feel a connection to the prop. So far, I haven’t found one.
But I recently spotted a four-foot inflatable alien at Ollie’s for $15. I’ve never been much of an inflatable person, but the price was right, and the little green man won me over.
Unsure exactly how inflatables work, I took him out of the small box, plugged him in, and watched him rise until he was standing tall, all four feet of him. Within seconds, he was ready to greet the college students who come to my office. When the season ends, he’ll be easy to deflate and store away, too.
He may not be the animatronic creature I set out to find, but he’s made my office a little more fun. If you’re looking for a cute Halloween decoration, take a look at Ollie’s four-foot inflatable alien.
