There’s something about crafting that quiets the noise of everyday life. For me, it’s more than a hobby — it’s a form of therapy. Whenever I’m creating something with my hands, especially something for my home, I feel a deep sense of peace and purpose.
One of my favorite simple DIY projects is a spring wreath I made a while back for my front door. It’s a cheerful, earthy piece that brings a pop of seasonal beauty to my porch — and the best part? It started with a $1 thrift store find.
I found the old wreath buried in a corner at one of my favorite secondhand shops. It wasn’t much to look at initially, but I saw its potential. Using a hot glue gun and a little imagination, I covered it in moss to give it more texture and a fresh, organic look. Then, I started layering in elements that reminded me of springtime — faux flowers, tiny bird nests, and a few other small, whimsical finds from the craft store.

What I love most about this wreath is that it doesn’t look like something mass-produced. It has character. It feels lived-in, like something you might find hanging on the door of a cozy cottage tucked into the woods.
I try to have a unique wreath for every season and holiday, and this one is my go-to for spring. It brings a little joy to my doorstep, and every time I see it, I’m reminded of how rewarding it is to turn something old and forgotten into something beautiful and meaningful.
If you’re looking for a simple craft that doesn’t break the bank, consider making a seasonal wreath from thrifted or repurposed materials. All it takes is a little glue, a bit of moss, and a touch of creativity.
